The Malika School is located in the Dhading District, a mountainous and rural region of Nepal. It is the only educational institution serving five surrounding village communities, with a total of 136 households. Many children face long and arduous journeys of up to 1.5 hours to reach the school.
The existing school building was severely damaged during the devastating earthquake of 2015 and is now considered structurally unsafe. Despite the risks, it continues to be used due to a lack of alternatives.
In partnership with Nepal-Inzlingen, Hilfe für Kinder e.V., and Netzwerk Saarlouis, we are supporting the construction of a new, safe school building with four classrooms and sanitary facilities. Additionally, we are providing essential learning materials such as school uniforms, backpacks, and notebooks. This not only ensures a secure learning environment but also alleviates financial burdens on the families, many of whom are struggling economically.
In Nepal, access to quality education, particularly in rural areas, is often limited. Many children drop out of school early because their families cannot afford the associated costs or because they are needed to contribute to the household income. Through this initiative, we aim to help break this cycle and offer children the chance for a brighter future.
We are proud to be part of this meaningful project and strongly believe that education should not be a privilege but a fundamental right for every child, regardless of their background or social status.
